Dear Kindergarten Families,
We look forward to seeing you tonight to share important information about the new school year. The meeting will be held in the Parish Hall at 6:30PM, but as you may have noticed, our parking lot is still under construction. Please plan on parking on the street on Grindlay, or in the Senior Center, and entering through the pedestrian gate off of Grindlay. You can follow the walk in front of the buildings to the Hall. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Cierley and Mrs. Liljeberg

KINDERGARTEN GRADUATION
is Monday June 11th at 10:00 a.m.

Students may wear non-uniform.
Students try to look their “best”.  Boys usually wear long pants and a collared shirt.  Jackets, sweaters, vests and ties are sometimes added.  Girls usually wear dresses, skirts or nice pants with pretty tops.  “Fancy” non-sport shoes are allowed.  NO hats, leis or distracting accessories.

Students arrive at 9:30 a.m. to their classroom.
Parents will receive their student’s end of the year student learning assessments. portfolios, yearbooks, etc.  Parents may proceed to the church. Students will walk together as a class to the ceremony.

The Graduation Ceremony is at 10:00 a.m. in the Church.
During the ceremony students will walk up the middle aisle, stand on the altar and then sit in the first three rows on both sides in the front.  Students will be called up one by one by name to receive their kindergarten graduation certificate.

MANNERS PLEASE! (Exclamation mark is used for strong feeling!)
Remember to respect the Church.  NO BALLOONS!  NO CHEERING! Applause ONLY after ALL the students’ names have been called!  NO WHISTLING!  NO SHOUTING!  We will stand on the altar after the ceremony for a few minutes for photo opportunities.  Families should not stand on the altar.

Family and friends are invited to attend.
Remind family members of MANNERS PLEASE! (Every member of your family will receive a “Red Ticket” if you break The Manners Rules.)

Students are dismissed from the church after the ceremony for summer vacation.
They will sit on the altar steps after the ceremony.  You may approach the front. Teachers will make eye contact with a family member and dismiss them to you.

There is a small reception in the Hall, sponsored by the 1st Grade.

A small snack is provided for students.  Many families like to use this opportunity to take some extra photos and sign yearbooks with friends.

SOCKS AND SHOES
Many kindergartners have grown and their socks are no longer large enough. PLEASE follow school guidelines regarding socks and shoes. Socks must come up over the ankle area and be solid red, white, navy blue, or black. As teachers we know that the students at this age level have little control over uniform violations. We want to set them up for success in subsequent grade levels where a consequence may be given. Remember, Mary Jane style shoes are not part of the uniform. Kindergartners should be in tennis shoes that meet guidelines every day.
FIELD DAY VOLUNTEERS
The school is asking for help. Please see the weekly email if you would like to volunteer for this event. Please contact Mrs. Liljeberg or Mrs. Cierley directly if you want to volunteer with kindergarten that day. Mrs. Liljeberg has added field day to the Shutterfly Volunteer page if you prefer to sign up electronically for helping KA only.
